2016 has been quite a tough year but it was absolutely incredible in the travel department. We have visited 3 most immense destinations of the world: Norway, Dubai and the USA. I can't complain - traveling was at the top of our charts. As for "cruising", it has always been on my list when it comes to a good ol' travel bucket list. While we are still deciding where to go in 2017 (so far we just know it will be something big!), cruise trips are always in the back on my mind. My sister-is-law in currently on one in the Caribbeans exploring CocoCay's turquoise waters and enjoying the quaintness of this beautiful private island. There are just so many out-of-this-world destinations on our planet and my bucket list is already miles long. So when Planet Cruise* got in touch with me and asked if I would be interested in writing a post about my very own dream cruise destinations, I was given "green light" in letting my imagination run wild. I spend a few days browsing through multiple cruise lines and researching different voyage options until I was ready to share these breathtaking 5 cruise destinations worth the pickiest bucket list owner. You'd never regret these nor would you ever be able to forget them.

We've all been there. Every year it's the same ol' story. We "start over" in December, January, September or today! There is that oh-I-am-actually-working-towards-my-goal time frame and then poof, and your zeal is gone, progress is forgotten, goals are transferred into "resolutions" or that "some day" list. How can I do it differently so I can get where I want? Is there some kind of a special trick or a magical fix when it comes to actually achieving your goals? No, not really. It's hard work, big changes and a whole lot of happiness that comes as a result and a big lovely bonus. Here are 6 steps which will make you stick to your goals in the new year. If one of your goals is to have the prettiest planner in town, you might want to 'stick to the end'. There's a very special giveaway that will make you fall in love and improve your life thousandfold.

A few weeks ago I took part in a Twitter chat dedicated to all things Christmas. Boy, was I surprised when I read that about 45% of fellow bloggers have already got their presents all done and dusted before December. Superhumans. It's not that I like to get my Christmas shopping done last minute (it's a nightmare!) but I'll admit, this year I am a bit behind. And guess what, it's OK. Even if you're in a mini panic mode at the moment thinking you've got nothing, use this guide to give you those last minute killer ideas which will save the day. From stocking stuffers to luxury gifts, my beauty, fashion & home/misc. ideas might come in handy this holiday season. Without further ado, let's jump in. Make it an 'add-to-basket' kind of day to get those last-min presents sorted out so even Santa would be impressed by your skills.

Things get busy way too often, and we end up forgetting to relax or let ourselves actually enjoy some lazy time. What's even worse is the guilt when the day is over and you feel like you've done nothing but watched a gazillion YouTube videos. By the way, there's nothing wrong at all with having days like that from time to time (if you have the sheer luxury of having those). If you're anything like me, when you know that "down time" is coming up, most likely you'd want to plan it and keep more or less productive. If your big plan of the day is to binge watch Christmas movies, you do you. If your day off is your only chance to catch up with work, go for it. There's that fine line between the two, that perfect forever sought-after balance. So here are 7 things you can do which, in my opinion, will help you achieve that sweet work & play ratio.
29 November 2016
This post is so due it's unreal. Before we roll into December, let me take you all the way back to October. It was such a great month filled with warmth, quality family time, multiple cups of hot chocolate and my first Christmas movie of the season (yes, I start early!). Excuse the late arrival but it comes bearing gifts. I just wanted to say a HUGE THANK YOU to every single one of you who supports me on my blogging journey and is just plain nice to me. Many thanks for following me on Twitter and making it possible to say I have 5000+ friends there now! Wow! What better way is there to celebrate it than running a lovely giveaway. Beauty and makeup goodies won in the poll I ran. I'm sure you've all been nice this year so one of your will enjoy a super lovely beauty. So let's jump into my October Favourites without any more delay.

I experienced Black Friday night shopping spree first hand about 10 years ago. I was studying in the US at the time. It's safe to say that once was more than enough! I never went Black Friday shopping at night again. It's brutal. What I do enjoy so much more is sitting in the comfort of my home clicking away through different deals and having all the goodies come to me. No rush, no crowds, no stress. Also, I decided to dedicate a separate blog post to share my top 8 websites where I am going to be browsing a lot and getting a thing or two half-price. I took time to search for the best deals and pick my favourites items from each website, and I hope you will fall in love with them just as much as I did. Time to get some shopping done! NB: some of these are running discounts up until Monday but there are those that end on Friday night. It is quite overwhelming to be under that invisible ticking timer but we can do this together. Put your phone on silent, make a cup of coffee, get your wallet, cancel all arrangements for the next few hours and let's shop!

Before I get into some kind of an intro or my initial thoughts about this perfume, let's just pause and stare. How absolutely STUNNING is this stiletto / perfume bottle?! It takes the most gorgeous item on my dressing table award by right! Now, let's go back to that intro and then we will jump straight into the review because I know you'd want to see and read more about this beauty. First and foremost, I have to admit that I never "buy" something (literally and metaphorically) when I see a commercial popping up on TV promoting it on the loop. My reaction is usually the opposite. It wasn't the case with this stunner. While hubby and I were in Dubai for our 2nd wedding anniversary, Carolina Herrera launched 'Good Girl', and gorgeous Karlie Kloss was looking at us from every screen at The Dubai Mall. Since I was hoping to get a perfume there anyway, my plan was to go for a "safe" choice and treat myself to my all time go-to favourite Miss Dior. Hubby, thankfully, thought differently, (because he noticed how mesmerized I was at the look of the Good Girl bottle!) and suggested to try it (he's a keeper). Needless to say, it was love at first sight. The rest is history.

If you've had my name popping up from time to time on your social media feed, you've probably noticed something in the last couple of weeks. Utter silence and the lack of posts/updates on my end. I wouldn't say it was planned because, as you might know, I was away and had no wifi for over a week (I know, oh the horror!). A number of people told me on Twitter that it was the "blogger's worst nightmare". Couldn't second that quicker. At first, it almost put me into what-do-I-do-with-my-life-now mode. Because, let's face it, in one way of another, we are all dependent on wifi/social media/internet in general. Another aspect of being offline hit me even harder. "How do I keep up?" FOMO, or fear of missing out, is a very real thing. It can be quite destructive and harmful. Especially so, when you put yourself out there as a blogger, a YouTuber or a social media persona. The cure is out there though. Despite the fact that I did miss certain Twitter threads, latest Instagram updates, lost some followers who couldn't/wouldn't possibly stick around because I was "quiet", I came out of it feeling on top of the world because I won the battle. If you feel overwhelmed by the sheer volume of information, events, things to do and all kinds of news, turning off might sound like a scary option. That's when this guide comes in and FOMO leaves defeated.

Solid 10+ years ago I decided to buy my very first "makeup brush". Back then I was surviving (literally) on my scholarship and a part-time job which, combined, "kept me busy" for 12 hours the least each day. My parents did their best to help but it wasn't easy, so very often I'd make a transfer to them and cut out dinners for that week. It was a tough time but it taught me a lot about the value of money, time and relationships. While trying to juggle all that, just like any girl, I was interested in all things beauty. Previously, I shared my experience of getting my first foundation in this post. Now, back to that "makeup brush" I mentioned (quotation marks are necessary haha). It wouldn't be a surprise that it was quite cheap (score, right?) but also it was the only option available. Needless to say, it was absolutely horrible and didn't do anything. Only about 4 years ago I got my first PROPER brush (it was MAC Buffer Brush 182) and I was on cloud nine. A lot has changed since then. I learnt a lot more about makeup and skincare. I tested many different products. I started a blog where I can share my thoughts with you guys. So when iconic Spectrum Collections got in touch with me and asked me to review their brushes, I was just as excited as I would've been 10+ years back. I am so humbled and thankful for this amazing opportunity to share my review with you all. If you're on a hunt for a perfect set of makeup brushes, you are in for some treat!
19 October 2016
My September kicked off with a flight in a double-deck plane heading to hot Dubai. It was a month when I tried many new things, stepped over that thin line between I-am-terrified-of-this and I-am-going-do-it, got a great tan and made the best memories. The best part? Getting to share all that with the person I love (aka the guy who's sitting across the room from me as I am typing these lines, also known as "the one who put a ring on it"). September has always meant a fresh start to me. Maybe it's the echo from my teaching days (I ran a foreign languages centre) as it was the start of the new academic year. Stationery had to be bought, new lesson plans drawn, business objectives set. Nevertheless, summertime has always made me very chill (nothing wrong with that) but, once the 9th month rolls in, I pop my thinking cap on, pull out my planner and get those goals set. Jokes aside, I function better in the fall and I seem to stick to my objectives much more effectively than, say, in January. Once again, it's that time when I take you down the memory lane and have a look back at my September Favourites. Join in for the ride - it will be worth it.
12 October 2016
There is one thing that I've learnt over the years of dealing with my complexion issues. It's the harsh truth (and it's OK to say it out loud). Clear skin is a luxury. My previous post has provoked amazing discussions and one-on-one messages with so many of you. I loved it! Even though the article was all about my current go-to high-end base makeup favourites, we dived deeper and chatted about our skin troubles, shared how to stand strong and win those battles. So when I say that clear skin is a luxury, I mean that you might be the happy "owner" of those "flawless" genes and "peaceful" hormones :) Thankfully, no matter what complexion you've been gifted with, cleansing it is not a given. It's great news! It means that some self-help and the right products can make a big difference. When I decided to put together this skincare wishlist, I decided to go for mostly cleansing products. I handpicked each item very (very!) carefully and have given it a good thought and done a lot of research. So today I am going to share my personal 10 picks that I genuinely crave (oh so much!) and cannot wait to test out (Santa, take a mental note, please).
6 October 2016
There used to be times when the word "makeup" associated in my mind only with something I could use to cover my perfect imperfections. I remember using my very first drugstore foundation like it was yesterday (it wasn't the best one, by the way). Only back then, it was all I used (and a mascara). Good ol' simple times. It's insane to see how far the beauty industry - and my makeup knowledge/stash - has come. While I still enjoy my favourite dupes, there is a number of high-end products I couldn't have more love for. From my early 20s I have been having a somewhat "problem skin". Breakouts, caused by hormones and stress, and the lack of understanding what to do in order to treat and prevent them (my sweet momma was doing her best to help me), all led to a bit of scarring left on my cheeks. Currently, my skin is being my friend and doesn't act up badly, even though I do get an occasional spot. It is usually oily but goes dry during colder seasons. Basically, you get an idea - it's quite a handful. That's where my favourite high-end base makeup favourites come to play. Their "life mission" isn't only to conceal whatever needs that perfect coverage, but also to make sure that my skin is breathing and reacting well to the ingredients. Here's the magic trio!

Makeup Revolution Ultra Palette in Golden Sugar 2 Rose Gold, I thought it could potentially become a hit in my books but I wasn't expecting what happened next. This palette crawled into my suitcase when I was packing for our holiday, and the rest of the story is below.

Get your eyes (well, eyelids) ready because things are about to get shimmery. While I do enjoy an occasional matte, I can't resist me some sparkle and glitter. Not that I'm obsessed with glittery things, but I wouldn't say a "big fat no" to them. It might be all due to the 'magpie effect'. Sometimes it's physically impossible to walk past a gleaming range of eyeshadows or a row of brightly coloured, well, anything. Just a week ago my lovely friend Emma and I found ourselves browsing through all the gorgeous girly goodies down those enticing makeup aisles in Edinburgh's Jenners while boys were
patiently waiting. Basically, we closed the store. As much as I find that will power comes easy to me in order to say no to getting a new lipstick or a palette (I've never been a hoarder), I still admit that it's amazing to get your hands on a shiny new box and start playing. That's why when lovely people of CrownBrush UK got in touch with me and offered to review a palette and a set of brushes, I knew I was ready to play. Let's see how the "game" went on.

We all have come across this quote which describes the world as a book, and if we were stuck in one place, we basically read only one page. Sounds familiar? If you really have time to spare, scroll up and down the mighty resources of Pinterest. You will definitely notice how most of the quotes on traveling would go hand in hand with "learning", "exploring", "dreaming" and "living". Traveling does wonders to you. It can change your personality, your idea of the world, your perception of others. Never in my life have I met a person who said that going places made their life more complicated or unhappy. It's always the opposite. Traveling seems to have this superpower to get us out of the rut in a heartbeat. While all that is true, being a savvy traveler doesn't come easy. Maybe you're born with it (hat's off to you, superhuman) or maybe you have just worked hard, honed the skill and became a travel pro. Nevertheless, when Campo Marzio* got in touch with me (after browsing through my Instagram travel adventures) and asked me to share my thoughts on how to become a savvy traveler, oh boy, was I excited! They have also kindly sent me this chic little leather travel jewelry case and... drumroll... it's a giveaway prize! I've been planning to publish this post for ages (eeekk!!) and here it is.
17 August 2016
I never had a choice whether I wanted pierced ears or not. I was 5 when my mum decided to take me to this salon where a lovely lady gave me a lollipop. 10 minutes later I came out with little gold studs in my 'lobes. Thankfully, I was lucky enough not to bleed much or scream in pain. In fact, I remember that it was quick and I LOVED the final look. When I told my husband this story, he was in panic: "We will never do it to our child!" haha. Let's just put it this way - if I ever wanted to stop wearing earrings, I'd simply take them out and the holes would heal almost lickety-split. I decided to keep them. Since then I have tried and worn all kinds of jewelry: from heavy chandelier to delicate pieces. For over 3 years it's been all about stud earrings. So when Happiness Boutique got in touch with me and offered to try out their pretty goodies, I knew my dainty jewelry collection was about to get a little bit bigger.

Do you know the feeling when something you're about to do is so big you have no idea where to begin? I have just raised my hand. So here I am, trying to get my thoughts together while struggling not to sob the happy tears. Two years ago I was wearing this stunning white dress. Two years ago he shed a little tear when he saw me wearing it (sorry I spilled the beans, baby). Two years ago we said our "I do's" forever. These two years (as well as the last five - since the day we met) have been the most magical, blissful and perfect. If you asked me to list top 5 most important days in my life, August 12th 2014 wouldn't only top it all. It's off the charts. It is its own chart, list and level. Plus, he is THE ONE. How do I know? If you're ready for more cheese, stick with me and read on.
8 August 2016
There is one thing I always skipped in my makeup routine since I was a teenager (probably up to my mid-twenties). Sit down and hold on tight because this might be painful, girls. Yes, as you most likely have guessed by now, I am talking about a lipstick (or any lip product per se) apart from a lip balm. Gasp, IKR?! Then one glorious day everything changed. I had to take part in this work related gig where we had to wear all black and a red lipstick was a must. Do you know how sometimes you try something for the 1st time and nail it? It's safe to say it's almost impossible to repeat that first successful go. It happened to me when I first tried a messy bun look (worked like a charm - that one time!). So you can imagine my surprise when I LOVED how red lipstick looked on me. Fast forward to today. Even though you won't see me wearing a lip product every single time I go outside, you will definitely spot me rockin' a nude shade or something on the more-wearable-during-the-day side. I love my brights, especially reds, and my insanely pigmented mattes but on special occasions or when I feel like it. Enters Make Up For Ever 7 Rouge Artist Palette*.

Honestly, I have to pinch myself every time I think about it or say it out loud. My little blog-baby is ONE today! I properly started writing (and promoting) in September last year but August 2015 will always be special in a very humbling way. I remember when I first hit 50 views in one week I was on cloud 9 (most of those views were probably myself and my hubby haha). Now Miel and Mint is doing 5 digits and I couldn't be more thankful for all the support I have been getting throughout this year. So many amazing connections and friends made, new things explored and fun blog posts written. I especially appreciate you sticking by me when times were tough and I could barely squeeze out 3 posts a month! You guys are incredible. To celebrate my first milestone I decided to run this giveaway as a little thank you for being so ahhhmazing. Ok, who's ready to take a stroll down the memory lane with me?
2 August 2016
Yesterday morning I jumped out of the bed like a rocket when my annoying alarm ring tone was just starting to go off. Not sure why all of a sudden I was so wide awake but it doesn't happen very often. Nevertheless, the first thing I saw when I looked at my phone was this random email with a recommended tweet saying "Only 145 sleeps left". Apparently, gmail must have thought I couldn't wait for Santa's visit. I have to admit, I AM one of those people who could watch an occasional Christmas movie in summer (please don't report me to any services) but this post isn't about that. August is here which means it's time to get my bum in gear and share all about my July Favourites before month #8 is finito. August is uber special in my life (since 2014). In 10 days hubby and I will be celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary (woohoo!). Time really flies when you're having fun :) Couldn't be more blessed to call him mine. More about all the romantic lovey-dovey stuff on August 12th. Now, let me take you on a little adventure back to lovely July.
29 July 2016
I still can almost sniff out that refreshing salty seaside smell, hear the thumping of the drums and taste the sprinkles on top of a softis cone. Norway, you're not easy to shake off. Your blues and greens look perfectly photoshopped. Your vibe has made me a part of your tribe. And you, my friend, if you have truly got that wanderlust burning inside you, Norway will automatically hop onto the very top of your bucket list. So why would you possibly consider going there? Well, after doing my own research while putting this post together, I even Googled "reasons to visit Norway" wondering if anyone has written anything similar because: a) curiosity, b) SEO and c) to find if there was anyone out there with the same mindset and love for this country. Nearly 90% of my finds were photos (don't get me wrong, stunning photos!) of Norway. There's nothing wrong about that as most of us are all about visualization. There's a "but" though. I craved a little more than a photo. Feed me some background, give me a story, unlock a little secret. Maybe it's too much of PPL catching up talking. As a result, this post was born. Massive thanks to my hubby who shared lots of "inside info" since he lived there for 12 years. The rest is my own findings and observations. La oss gå (let's go)!
21 July 2016
Moving is never an easy process as much as it sounds like a fun thing to do. One friend of mine moved 12 times in the last 7 years (with his wife and 5 kids!). Another friend changed her abode 3 times in 2 years. When I hear about experiences like that, I am gobsmacked. On the one hand, I admire them for talking about it all so casually like it's no big deal (superhuman skills, right?). On the other hand, it sounds physically and mentally exhausting and I don't know how they are not breaking into tears sharing about it. I had to move twice in the last (almost) 2 years. Being a homely and home-loving person that I am who is all about that comfort and coziness, I have tried and tested what worked for me in order to make a new house feel like home. Molton Brown contributed to that. Let's find out how.
15 July 2016
Better late than never - the saying that is insanely old but still true. My June Favourites are finally here, and boy, they are amazing! Didn't I say the same about my May Favourites? ;) As for the quote, just a few days ago I was listening to this podcast and the person was talking about perfectionism and how destroying it is in so many ways. Being someone who's always thriving to do my utmost best (still fully convinced it's a pretty neat quality) I sometimes tend NOT to do a certain task rather that do it 50% or even 70%. While it's great that I want to give it 101%, things don't get done. What are your thoughts on it? Meanwhile, let's dive into my June Favourites. Summer 2016 started off with lots of rain and gloom. Even though the weather hasn't been on our side (ergo, summer in the UK doesn't feel like summer if you know what I mean), there were still many things I have enjoyed last month. Let me take you on a little trip down the memory lane. Plus, there's a mini giveaway at the end of this post, woot woot! I would love to share a mini set of my favourite body product with one of you, lovelies, for all the support and love you're always showering me with. Big one is coming up shortly!
7 July 2016
It doesn't matter if you have been a part of the blogosphere for 5 months or 5 years, sooner or later we all hit the wall with posting and doing all things blogging after being jetted off on a holiday. Most likely it's still doable (and enjoyable!) to share away all the poolside goodness on your Instagram or snap your troubles away when you show off those perfectly tanned hot-dog legs. What about writing, proofreading, photography, promotion, networking etc. etc. etc.? The list goes on. We all know it's hard work but we love it. That's why we make things happen. The very same principle applies when it comes to blogging while you're toasting under the sun in a far far land filled with warm sand, starry nights and limitless mocktails. Here are my 5 tips (that actually work!) on how to keep up the pace, stay on top of everything, avoid blogger guilt and enjoy every minute of your carefree vacay.

If you ask a beauty blogger to choose only one part of their face that MUST be done before they leave the house, I can guarantee that brows would be the top answer. I'd probably have to go for either lashes or brows - anything to have my eyes do the talking :) Now, this next line is going to sound very shocking - I remember those days when brows weren't significant. I know, I know, you might either agree with me because you know what I'm talking about, or you might think what kind of stone age it must have been haha. Long before Cara brought them back, only a few people would pay attention to the brows. And they were not doing it right. If only they had Benefit coming to the rescue. After buying and testing out ka-Brow! and ready, set, BROW! by Benefit for a few weeks, I can give you a little spoiler before we get into the review - I have never tried anything like this duo! That could only mean one thing... <3

How much does your better half know about makeup? Well, when I saw BF / Fiance / Husband Makeup Knowledge Tag popping up in the blogging community, I knew I had to involve my main man and put him to this improvised #bbloggers test. To my surprise, he didn't mind answering the questions and we had such a good laugh together. While he knows lots of makeup brands (because I talk about them, obviously), he found many names for different beauty bits and pieces quite funny. The definition of "concealer" was a no-brainer while "strobing" caused a bit of confusion :) Well, let's just say - you will have a good laugh reading his answers. On a different, but related note, as you have probably seen from my Snapchat (mielandmint) or Twitter, I did a little makeup shopping spree so the next post will be makeup related. Stay tuned for it. Meanwhile, enjoy this fun light read & happy weekending, lovelies.

I love sleep! I really do. "Off to bed late again, have to get up early". Doesn't this sound way too familiar? Either you are nursing your baby, working on a new project, cramming for an exam or simply stuck in the Instagram browsing loop, those late nights do happen. Since I shared my 7 Way To Start Your Day Positively I have been thinking of doing something similar related to the night routine. It wasn't until we moved house that I knew I had to share my advice on how to get better Zs. Don't get me wrong, because we have been so tired with the move, cleaning, sorting, work and hundreds of items on the to-do list, both my hubby and I have had no problem falling asleep. New bed is comfortable (we are talking mattress) and I am in awe of our cozy duvet. The only struggle that I had came in a form of a pillow. The one that I've been using and loving, went all lumpy and bumpy. I knew it was time to get a brand new pillow but I didn't want to have yet another OK one. I need a perfect one that would suit my "pillow needs". And thus the search has started.

Do you remember my Life Lately post, lovelies? Starting from February things weren't easy and you all were so kind, encouraging and reassuring me that everything will pick up. Thankfully, that's exactly what happened! May did come with a few struggles here and there (I am actually dedicating a separate post on something I learnt a big lesson about - lodging related) but we handled it all like champs. Most importantly, we enjoyed last month, had a lot of fun and did loads of traveling. I took 8 flights in 05/2016! It almost felt like we lived at the airport. I do find flying very soothing and relaxing so even the middle-of-the-night jetsetting is amazing in my books. In May one of my big dreams came true when we flew to Norway (here's my Norway Travel Diaries, Part 1 post)! Also, in May I turned a very scary age (again, the post on that is scheduled, can't wait to share with you all). May has to be my favourite month and it never disappoints.
10 June 2016
You know how much I love blogging and would read (and enjoy) everything from a fab recipe or a GRWM post to the makeup reviews and life lately updates. However, my ultimate favourites are always travel related blog posts. I have written a number of them and since there are so many places I have visited and will be visiting, I decided it was time to start the brand new blogging series "It's On My List". What would be the most amazing place to kick off the series than a recap from our recent holiday in Norway? It's a rhetorical question, of course. I broke down our Norway Diaries into 3 beautiful and very different parts which I can't wait to share with you all. Without any more chit chat, let's get into this post and explore Southern Norway together.

Before I get into this post and go on in depth about my top five picks, I have to say that I am still exploring the lovely world of skincare after having ignored it completely back when I was a teenager. Either I was lucky to have great skin back then (I really was!) or I simply was into other things (big time straight A goodie student with a fab social life) but it got to the point when my skin has started "asking" for some TLC about 7'ish years ago. First I developed adult acne due to awful stress and, as a result, poor nutrition. Then the oiliness followed by the dryness kicked in topping it up with the "tired-looking" complexion. If the Skin Superman existed, I'd be sending light signals into thin air right away (yes, that's a Batman reference, you got me) :) Anyway, if you are anything like me and your skin suffers from blemishes or simply needs that extra love right now, read on. These 5 are my current must-haves which I am very happy with. I am still exploring so can't wait to share about my new finds and additions to the HG list if/ when those become my staples. Ok, let's dive in.

With summer just around the corner I decided to schedule a few fitness related posts which I cannot wait to share with you. As much as it makes sense when everyone says you need to start getting "summer ready" in winter (or even better, the summer before - I wish, right?) I strongly believe it's never too late to be active. Even a few weeks of working out do pay off combined with healthy and portion-controlled diet. Being in the middle of the house move I am still making effort to hit the gym and walk a lot (who else tracks their step count?). A couple months ago I got this beautiful VS PINK campus backpack that started to serve right away as my gym bag. Just like I shared the contents of my purse in my What's In My Bag post, it's about time I wrote about what I take with me into the torture chamber, ahem, gym :) Edit: this is, obviously, a joke. I actually really enjoy gym and taking long walks.

Sometimes I catch myself thinking about absolutely random stuff (while blow drying my hair being half-asleep, for example): "Who started to say "on fleek" and why did it stick with everyone?" - how sad that "on fleek" is so 2015 - or "How come is *insert a product name here* made into a staple because of the hype around it?" To be fair, that's pretty much the only time of the day when my brain goes into this scatter mode aka the thought wander. But let's go back to the point I am making here - hype. If you have read my review on Charlotte Tilbury Magic Foundation (here) you most likely remember me saying how sometimes an overhyped product can be quite disappointing. I am extremely cautious when there's 'much ado' being created around something. At the same time, certain products do wonders for one person and couldn't be worse for another. Keeping that in mind, I gave in to the hype around NARS Sheer Glow (only after a few years, right?) and decided to test it out. What intrigued me the most about it was very mixed reviews. Let's see how it panned out for me.

Before I even start writing anything monthly favourites related, let me just say that the weather has been so beautiful this week! It's unreal how warm it is outside, and that alone is a solid reason to smile and be thankful. Back to monthly favourites: as you have probably noticed, March Faves never happened. I had to put blogging on pause for half of month #04. All because April '16 wasn't the greatest one this year. I can definitely say it was one of the toughest months in my life. Have you ever hit that stage when everything is happening at once and crashing down on you? Yeah, that was my April. However, instead of "reminiscing" about the negative / confusing / sad / painful part of last month, let's look back on lovely bits and pieces I got to enjoy. Can't tell you how happy I am April is finito. Praying for guidance and clarity in May. We really really (really!) need it now. As tough as April was, I'm thankful for the lessons I have learnt.

If you are in the UK at the moment, most likely you got to experience the disappointment that April has been weather-wise. I mean, it was snowing a little today, then it was pouring and then the sun came out as if to make you believe it's warm outside. Ok, grandma has to stop complaining about the weather. Let's go back to last week and soak in the sunshine from this little OOTD photoshoot. I am not wearing black for a change. When the sun is out, a lot of white is automatically happening in my choice of clothes. Very excited to grow my "fashion" part of the blog and would appreciate your thoughts on that. Girl's gotta work on improving her style so let's hope this helps.

It's no surprise that I absolutely love makeup. You know that hard-to-beat feeling when you find that perfect foundation or a mascara that does everything it promises on the packaging. Also, I have a number of new posts coming up featuring some amazing beauty goodies I have recently discovered and fell in love with. However, there is a beauty section which I seemed to have ignored in my teens and have only started to explore in my early 20s. Drumroll cue now. It's, of course, skincare. So if you ask me what beauty advice I could give to my 16 year old self if I could go back in time, I'd say: "Start moisturizing now!" I would definitely say a lot more than that but you get an idea. So, about that perfect moisturizer - does it even exist? It's been a while since I did a good ol' review of lovely skincare products I've been enjoying. Some do fabulously great and some fail. Let's just say, this one was very special in the making.

If you've been with me for a good while, you probably noticed that Miel and Mint has been in a "sleep mode" during last couple of weeks. If I am completely accurate and 100% honest, blogging has been quite a struggle for months now. It's good to be back though. Also, it's especially great to get a little fresh "re-start" with a new template from amazing pipdig (best customer service online. EVER!). This is a totally genuine shout-out. As I am still tweaking a few things, please bear with me. Overall, this comeback post (with a little update and a few goals for the blog) is definitely due. I've been working hard on a number of new posts and series and very excited to share them with you very soon. Time to get organised and shake things up - never a bad decision, right?

I've been thinking of putting together a wishlist a while ago. Call it the perfect timing but now that the weather is changing to better (meaning I am waking up from the winter hibernation and recognizing there are other colours but black), I have an awakened craving for new clothes. So after lots of browsing on my beloved ASOS I saved a number of gorgeous items I'd love to share with you and happily add to my wardrobe. If you love tulle skirts as much as I do, you'd appreciate this one ;) Apart from that, there is also a craving for make up and skin care goodies. It's a constant one, if I'm 100% honest (which I am). Besides, I don't know if I ever mentioned that but my makeup collection can barely be called a "collection". I am happy about it in a way because I don't like to waste money, buy 10 foundations and end up using 1 or 2 with other 8 stored away in a drawer. Same goes for creams, scrubs and all the range of skin-perfecting "potions". I love shopping, don't get me wrong. However, I do know how and when to stop reminding myself that I have to finish at least one item to replace it with another. Keeping that in mind, I'd love to add a few new bits and pieces to my "stash". Ok, there is one exception - lipsticks. Alright, maybe also nail polishes. If I spend more time writing this intro, I am sure I will be able to list other things I do have in many shades and variations :) So let's just dive into my April 2016 Beauty & Fashion Wishlist. NB: This is not a sponsored post.

Planning, scheduling and keeping track of the performance and stats is what bloggers do on a daily basis. Unless you have a blog that seconds as your personal diary or you are happy with zero viewers, you probably don't need any planning or tracking. The rest of bloggers can relate to the fact that it's nice when someone reads what you have to say. If one of your goals is to grow your blog, then blogging tools have to be present in your day-to-day life. They are deep-rooted in my everyday routine. There are many instruments that help bloggers keep up the pace but I am not going to go over all the amazing apps and tools today. Instead, I will describe three key ways I use to run Miel and Mint successfully daily: paper (aka planner and to-do lists), Excel and Google Analytics.

This is a very special post to me (I hope I don't say that a lot haha) because I am about to share all about the very first event where I was invited as a blogger. Those of you who follow me on Twitter probably remember how over a week ago I went to the sk:n VIP Launch event. My hubby joined me as my +1 and it is safe to say he was one of very few men present there. He was such a good sport though. It was a really interesting, educating and fun occasion to attend. I wouldn't call myself a skincare expert or a beautician but I did learn a number of things and was introduced to various great products and treatments suitable for any age or skin condition. Disclaimer: this is not a sponsored post, all impressions and opinions are my own and 100% genuine. Without further ado, let's dive it.

How attached to our smart phone are we? This question must have boggled minds of many since the time a portable cell phone became a possibility. If we are realistic, since the moment cell phones transformed into smart phones and acquired a whole range of apps (including Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc.) we were on the hook. On top of that, 5 years ago along came the giant called Instagram. The sheer existence of all available social media accounts/profiles/channels made us voluntarily and consciously become glued to our phones. I spend way too much time on mine than I would like to admit but recently I have started to make positive changes about my "phone time", e.g. no phone at the table (while eating, obvi) and less browsing time in the morning. On top of that I found it easier to just turn it off sometimes and enjoy quality time with my family and friends, watch a movie or read a book in peace and with no distraction. Despite that, I love my phone and I love to "accessorize" it. So today I'm bringing you my phone case creations from CaseApp and a giveaway to design and get your own phone case.

Ok, who remembers those fun questionnaires girls used to write in middle school? I can't be the only one who loved giving answers to hundreds of silly and random questions :) That's why this tag takes me back in time. How well do you know a person behind the blog? I am confident and happy to say that if you have been following Miel and Mint for a while, you know me quite well. You might not know what subject I loved at school (it was English and History, by the way) but you know what kind of a person I am. When my lovely blogger babe Kay of Shoes and Glitter blog tagged me in her post "50 Facts About Me" I knew it would be a fun one to do. I am sorry I put it off for a while but I guess it's better late than never :) Make sure to follow Kay (her blog is amazing!) and click to "view more" to learn a few (well, 50!) very random facts about yours truly.

February has flown by so fast like it never happened. Can't say I want to complain about that. For a while I've just been too excited about March. Even though the spring officially begins on the 20th, in my books it has already started. Last month was quite challenging and tough. At the same time it was good and full of great experiences. Hubby and I got a chance to take a long weekend away and now I can officially tick off a few more places in the UK I've visited for the first time - Windsor, Eton and Reading. Here's the hoping that March and onward will be a hospital-free time and that everyone who needs healing will be brought to their full health and strength. Hoping the spring will be filled with sunshine, laughter, fun and blessings. Ok, now who's up for a little time travel? ;)

I talked to her about 30 minutes ago and I honestly just want to re-dial her and chat more. I love my bestie aka my momma. How great are mums, right? My perfectly organised Excel spreadsheet has reminded me to publish my February Faves today but I just had to re-schedule it, sneak this one in so I could share some love and appreciation to all the amazing mums and mums-to-be who would happen to be reading these very lines right now. If you haven't yet got a present for your mum or grandma (or any other special lady in your life who's a momma), this last-min (unique and cute) gift guide might be just what you need. Most of the ideas are customisable - there's nothing better than a personal touch in any present. While we are on the subject of being personal, I am also about to share 10 reasons why my mum is my bestie. I could share over 1000 but I better mention those to my mum in person ;)

So it happened about 9 or 10 years ago. But "it" I mean me starting to paint my nails in other colours than clear or all shades of pink (I admit, I still love pink). Horrendous shimmery polishes said their final goodbyes and were happily dumped by yours truly introducing gorgeous glossy finish shades in all possible colours and variations. As time went on my love towards 100+ tones has been shifting according to the season, trend, occasion and, most importantly, my mood. With all of that came a bit of experience in doing my manicure at home. Especially since the spring is in the air (with an extra Leap Day this year - how exciting - also I've just read it Leo Day haha - so true, go Leo!) I thought I'd share my easy tips on how to get a perfect manicure at home featuring these lovely Crabtree & Evelyn spring nail lacquers and Lily Hand Therapy. Let's dive into the spring!

There are thousands of reasons to why sometimes our day can go "blah". Life isn't always like a walk in the park and things can happen (in the family, at work, at uni, with friends). There could be a specific situation on your mind that worries you or makes you feel helpless. You might feel like this busy lifestyle is taking over you and you never have time. Or occassionally you can simply wake up and you know that the day will go opposite to what you wanted, planned or expected. The good news is there are ways to change it so you can start your day happier and make that positivity stick around. I am planning to infuse a little series of self-development/improvement posts once or twice a month and this one marks the starting point. If you are in a rut or would like to never get into one, here are my tips on how to start your day in the most positive and happy ways to make the best of the next 24 hours.

If you follow my blog for a while you have probably seen a number of posts dedicated to foundations. I just love them! I am always on the hunt for the next best thing that can top my existing favourites. This review has been over 2 months in the making as I wasn't up for gushing over a product I have used once just to share its generic characteristics. We don't roll like that. Before you click "Read More" I have to admit this purchase felt like an absolute must-have. I've read multiple odes of posts and reviews on this foundation. Plus, being a huge fan of the incredible brand that is Charlotte Tilbury I felt compelled to try Magic Foundation. Let's see how my experience panned out.

Believe it or not, I used to have gorgeous chocolate'y hair (that usually went light brown'ish after being "sunkissed" in summer). Even though those times are pretty blurry now, I still go "Whoa!" whenever I come across an old Facebook picture of a brunette me. The change happened one day in October 5 years ago when I decided it was time. I got bored of my dark hair a while ago. On top of that, I got out of a (painful) long-term relationship so changing the whole look seemed to be a pretty legit option. My hairdresser advised to go with the transition gently. So thanks to being in hands of a professional, I didn't get my hair bleached right off the bat. Becoming a blonde was a process that took about a year. Then one morning I woke up realizing: "Wow, I am actually blonde now". With new hair came new "responsibilities" aka a lot more maintenance. Little did I know (or maybe I just didn't bring myself to think of it back then) but going light was going cost a lot - literally. I had to do my homework on different hair treatments and care - something that seemed to have been ignored for a good part of my life. I never had super long hair and also have struggled growing out my blonde locks. That is why when Irresistible Me got in touch with me, I couldn't contain the excitement. Here's the review and my personal experience with Irresistible Me hair extensions.
