As some of you may have noticed the absence of much chatter from me or much action at Miel and Mint over the weekend, it is because I’ve been suffering from awful migraines/sinus headache for a week now. They do knock you out from your normal routine, including blogging. That’s why there has been a sofa + minimum screen time + hot tea + fuzzy socks + book + medicines kind of time. However, on Saturday I felt a little bit better in the afternoon (for like a few hours) and my Boots gift card (which I got from my lovely hubby a few weeks ago) was calling my name 🙂 I decided to be smart and not splash out on useless bric a brac / impulse purchases, but instead to make sure and get the staples and a few amazing recommendations from other blogger babes.
Let’s take a closer look at my Boots Mini Haul & my top 7 essentials:
Have you ever had a reaction (not a good one, obvs) to a foundation your skin previously liked? Sadly, it happened to me with Maybelline Dream Satin Liquid Foundation. I noticed that I started breaking out badly in a few places at a time and I could’t pinpoint the cause. Then it dawned on me that it could the foundation I was using at the time. I felt like I should be nice and sparing with my MAC Pro Longwear and decided to use Dream Satin Liquid for a couple of days. For some reason, it didn’t go well with my skin. That’s when my post My Favourite Liquid Foundations came to mind and I had a moment of clarity – Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation! So let’s start from the face as I kind of already did 🙂
These 2 are my big loves! I can’t rave enough about them and how many I’ve gone through because they are THAT good! Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation is absolutely incredible and I have definitely missed it in my makeup bag. I am currently in a shade #54 Beige. I love the formula and coverage so so much and will be sharing a more detailed review in comparison to other foundations in the future. Now onto Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer (shade Light). From the very first time I saw it in one of Angela Lanter‘s videos (she’s amazing, by the way, definitely check out her YT channel), I was hooked! It has never disappointed me since. It is one of the best and most importantly, affordable, concealers.
Having gone to Boots, I had to show some love to Rimmel London. If we move from the right to the left: Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil. Trying not to go too dramatic with my eyebrows I still needed a simple eyebrow pencil which I will be using carefully one brow at a time (not literally). (I honestly can’t handle a VERY obvious drawn on look. Just not my cup of tea. Shade Dark Brown matches my eyebrow colour + doesn’t clash with my blonde hair. Light hair + perfectly (and in moderation) done dark brow looks so amazing though. Next on my list was one more little addition to my fall nail polishes which would fit in perfectly into my Best Nail Polish Collection for this time of the year. Rimmel London 60 Seconds Super Shine Nail Polish #513 Let’s Get Nude colour is a perfect pastel colour for those times when I want a lovely nude shade on my nails. I’ve heard many great things about these thrifty nail polishes! Last but not least in this little trio is … drum roll … Rimmel Kate Matte Lipstick in 107. It is absolutely gorgeous and I look forward to posting a makeup look using this beauty. So many bloggers recommended to give it a go.
This little part is very special to me as it includes an essential item and a one-off (at least, for me): both extremely important. I can count the times I wore fake eyelashes on one hand. I’m just not a fake eyelash type of a girl (even though I love how they look!). I’m also very lucky to have my own long curly ones for “everyday look” 🙂 Without any more jibber jabber, I must say I am so excited to use these Eylure London Volume Eyelashes in #083. This little treat will come in handy for my hubby’s big birthday celebration (woohoo!!!) which is coming up super soon! Big celebration equals big lashes! 🙂 On a different, more day-to-day note, I am still sticking to my most favourite mascara of all times – Maybelline Colossal Mascara Cat Eyes in Black. I’ve been using it for YEARS and I needed a fresh one in my makeup bag ASAP. If you would like me to do mascara reviews in the future, let me know. I will be comparing all of them to this one, though. Big shoes to fill, big bar to reach 🙂
Hope you enjoyed this haul and my little chatter on these lovely purchases. Now I’m going to make myself and hubs a cup of tea and take it easy to get rid of this headache. If you are a blogger by night, but a GP/nurse by day (or if you suffer from sinus headache / any type of migraines), your advice will be very much appreciated 😉
