September Favourites

September Favourites

Can you believe September has ended or am I the only one who didn’t get the memo it even started? 🙂 It is officially fall (aka autumn). And I am ready as ever to share my September Favourites with you. There was a number of things I’ve been enjoying last month and it’s so nice to look back and appreciate them once again. It is honestly a mixture of everything and I love it! 🙂 I am excited to see what October brings, and this month is going to be really amazing (hubby’s big birthday, 2 lovely trips, Halloween & friends coming to stay with us – can’t wait!).

Not a moment more to wait 😉 Let’s have a look at my September Favourites!

Just like in my August Favourites (make sure you check it out here), I will start with my favourite place in September. As many of you (who have known me for at least over a month) remember that hubby and I went on holiday to Gran Canaria at the end of August. So we said hello to September by tanning at Amadores Beach. Hands down, it is one my of favourite beaches ever. It wasn’t overcrowded, no one was trying to sell you anything, the water was beautifully turquoise and the sand white and hot. So yeah, the whole package 🙂 Plus, there is this fab restaurant/spa club on the beach called Amadores Beach Club where we relaxed in the evenings sipping non-alcohol drinks and coffee.

Summer holiday - Amadores Beach

As I’ve just mentioned the beach and the holiday (awww, September, you were good), I would like to add a book I’ve read (trying my best not to get it wet and sandy at the beach). It’s definitely a light read and I am glad I had it with me. So the book is called “The Single Girl’s To-Do List” by Lindsey Kelk. I am not a single girl (not that it’s even relevant haha) but I picked it up for two reasons: 1) I love the way L. Kelk writes, her sense of humour is amazing and the characters are always almost becoming your friends; 2) it is probably about a ‘to-do’ list obsessed chick just like yours truly. I wasn’t disappointed one bit! The book was fabulous! To give you a little idea, I will quote a few sentences from the back: Rachel Summers loves a to-do list: boyfriend – check, flat – check, great job – check. Not on the list: being dumped. Best friends Emelie and Matthew ride to her rescue with an entirely new kind of list – The Single Girl’s To-Do List. Rachel doesn’t know it, but it will take her on all kinds of wild adventures – and get her in some romantic pickles too. I highly recommend this light read. Single girl or not, you will enjoy it.

I decided to include a favourite drink because it’s September Favourites, and let’s face it: it’s time to drink gallons of tea and coffee and be happy about it 🙂 Therefore, my drink of the month will probably not be cold, nor exotic. Let’s take a moment and say “Woot Woot” for Pumpkin Spice Latte being back! If you’re not a big pumpkin-spice-anything kind of person, that’s OK, but I suggest you give this one a go. Cinnamon, nutmeg and clove + espresso, pumpkin-favoured syrup and steamed milk…all in one cup. Are you getting warm yet? My fellow sweet-toothed friends (you guys are friends, not just readers) will crave it over and over again. I personally don’t have it with whipped cream on top but it’s nice to have options. How cute is this to-go cup! Great job, Starbucks 🙂

Hi, my name is Nadia and I am an Instagram addict 🙂 Not that you didn’t know that! Flashing news: I am about to start an account both for my blog + personal photos mixed together so keep your eyes peeled for that. I will make sure to spread the news. Anyway, I am in love with my IG feed and couldn’t be happier with people/blogs/websites/brands I’m following. But there is one that swept me off my feet and I’ve looked through pretty much all of their pics. Pre-story: I LOVE huskies so much. Hubby and I are contemplating whether to get a husky pup, a lab or a little jack russell terrier when we move. But yeah, my love for huskies is without a limit. You can imagine my excitement when I discovered a page dedicated to a gorgeous husky dog named Loki 🙂 He is so hansdome!! Here is the link. Thank me later 🙂

Being a big movie buff, you know I had to include my favourite film of September 2015. It is, without a shadow of a doubt, Everest (watch the trailer). The movie is based on an incredible but very tragic real life events of 1996 Mount Everest Disaster. I wish I could tell you about every single bit of it but I would definitely spoil too much (I am awful at keeping secrets, btw). I will just say it will leave you speechless. It will show you courage, loyalty and real friendship. It is a story about a battle between a man and a monster mountain, and it’s a story of love. The actors did an immense job! You will love each and every one of them (except maybe the journalist guy, didn’t like him one bit). Jason Clarke, Jake Gyllenhaal, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes and Emily Watson were outstanding. Even Keira Knightley was good (and I am not a fan of her one bit). You might want to bring tissues when you watch Everest because it’s almost impossible not to tear up.

I kept this one as a little treat for you, beauty lovers 🙂 This September I’ve been loving a lot of great beauty related products but I would like to mention two that I haven’t talked about in my previous posts (well, one of them was here – in my What’s In My Travel Washbag post). First off, let me introduce to you one of my favourite concealers – NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (in Custard). It’s packed with goodness that covers dark circles like it’s no one’s business. I just dot it under my eyes and then blend with my fingers or a Beauty Blender sponge (when I remember to wash it!). It also covers well any kind of imperfections like spots and skin discolouration. I’d say it’s buildable and what is more important it doesn’t crease, the opposite of some concealers that make your spots show up even more by going “orange”y later on. It also contains no parabens, no fragrance and no alcohol. Win-win. One more amazing beauty related product, but in the skin care department, is this lovely Clinique Liquid Facial Soap. Mine is travel-size which is great but that’s why I’m nearly out of it. You can choose your skin type when you purchase it as well. Mine is mostly oily (though it gets dry from time to time) so I have it in oily skin formula. It is perfect for getting any last remains of makeup off your face. Just make sure NOT to remove your eye makeup with it! Final result: thoroughly clean and smooth skin. Yes, please 😉

Now it’s dessert time (or pudding, as people say here). Ok, you have to confess you loooooove candles just like I do and burn them one after another like there’s no tomorrow. As September rolled in, I decided it was time to say goodbye to my lovely favourite summer’y scents (for example, this lovely here) and get my hands on cozy fall-inspired scents. That’s when I absolutely fell in love with Mandarin Cranberry Yankee Candle. Its scent is soooo good and it’s pretty much impossible to describe but it’s been filling the whole house with citrus’y, fruity with a touch of tangy cranberry smell. Now I just can’t wait to get Cosy by the Fire and Candy Corn – they would be perfect for October and November 🙂 What is your favourite candle for the fall/autumn?
