Aww, I am going to miss October! It’s been such a great month this year: lots of traveling (#airportcitizen), my hubby’s big birthday celebration and amazing long weekend away + friends coming to stay with us for the Halloween weekend. I loved it so much! Even though we didn’t dress up nor went to a themed party/get-together this year, it doesn’t make it less of an exciting recap of the month. There is just something so cozy about October. Crunchy leaves on the ground, warm glow of lit candles, suggles under the blanket, the delicious smell of pumpkin-anything… Thank you, October, you were wonderful. I have a good feeling about November and starting to get excited about Christmas. But before we start singing “fa la la la la la la la la” together, let’s take a look at my
Just like in my September Favourites post (make sure to click here to read it), I would like to share with you my favourite place in the month of October. The struggle was real as I had to decide either it was my couch or the city of Krakow. Jokes asides, I decided to give Krakow some credit 🙂 I have been to Poland before (Warsaw, Chelm, Lublin) but it was my first time visiting Krakow. The city is incredibly romantic and so beautiful! A lot of people say it’s perfect for a couple’s weekend away. I can confirm that. Plus, shopping there is out of this world. Over 20,000 steps were recorded by my Pacer on one day! Get your walking shoes on and you will be golden. Read more about our trip here.
Sometimes life gets busy. Really busy. However, it’s important to pause. Our contant on-the-go lifestyle often forces us to think we will waste time if there’s a pause. A relaxing brunch might help you re-change, feel refreshed and happier. Coffee (americano with milk + sugar) was the drink of the month in October for me. I will not be wrong if I say that it is my favourite every month. It’s hard to beat the afternoon spent drinking americano, then cappuccino (because you just can’t and don’t want to stop chatting) and tea cake. Lovely catch-ups at the cozy cafes are amazing.
If I could have any other occupation, it would probably have be an interior designer (or a home stager, like Anna in the movie Leap Year). I love everything home related! I also have a confession to make – I could watch YoutTube decor tips videos and homeware hauls for hours. Even though I’m not a big home bird (travel bug doesn’t let me be one), I love the coziness of our home. This particular canvas was given to us by my amazing mother-in-law after our wedding (it’s from Next Home). It’s absolutely beautiful. A few days ago I was working on a home ware / decor post which is going live on Tuesday. I can’t wait to share it and show you bits and pieces from our home. I love my trips to homeware stores way too much! 😉
Being a huge candle addict, I can’t pass on sharing my favourite candle of the month with you. October 2015 is now associated for me with the scent of cinnamon and orange, which is pretty amazing 🙂 This Pintail Candles goodness smells incredible, and the scent of cinnamon sticks mixed with zesty mandarin fills the whole floor quickly. I can’t wait to try out their Christmas range. As much as I love to stick to my Yankee Candles or give an occasional cheaper candle a go, Pintail Candles were a great discovery for me in the month of October.
I love the little tradition I started last month sharing my favourite IG account of the month. In September I just absolutely had to share Loki The Wolf Dog with you. In October it’s also an animal profile, and I couldn’t be happier about it 🙂 It only makes perfect sense how Pumpkin the Raccoon is winning hearts across the world. This cute account is dedicated to a rescued raccoon and her friends, rescue pups Toffee and Oreo. I am absolutely amazed that someone has a pet raccoon! Link is here – you will fall in love! By the way, I was the last person to create an Instagram page for my blog, so in case if you haven’t followed me yet, I am over at MielandMint 😉
Ok, so hubby and I decided to go and watch The Martian. I thought it would be a 100% “boy movie” and that I might enjoy little bits of action from it, and that’s it (judging by the trailer). Well, I have to tell you that I underestimated this movie BIG TIME. It was absolutely incredible! That’s why it is occupying the Favourite Movie spot in my Octover Faves. Matt Damon starring as Mark Watney, who was left behind on Mars, when his crew members concluded he was killed after a devastating storm, was unreal! The movie wasn’t only about a man putting all possible (and impossible) means of physical survival into action. It celebrated the victory of a strong spirit, mental overcome and an outstanding but humble personality. If I had to rate it, I’d give it 20 out of 5.
Last but not least, I also enjoyed October a lot when it comes to makeup! I repurchased a number of good ol’ (and loved!) beauty products and got a few new bits and bobs I’ve never tried before. I Heart Makeup Blushing Hearts – Iced Hearts was such a great new find! It came as a little freebie along with my Makeup Revolution palette (read my review here). It can be applied as a highlighter or a light baked blush. I’ve used it every day since I got it. It gives you the instant soft glow which is so flattering and perfect for the fall. Another item is the well-known Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer. Can’t even count how many of these I’ve gone through, and I keep coming back to it. If you have read my Boots Mini Haul post, you saw this concealer among my faves. It’s so easy to apply and it works perfectly with your choice of foundation and setting powder. Dark circles, see you never!
Hope you enjoyed my October Favourites 🙂 What were your favourite things last month?
Do you remember I got those beautiful fake eye lashes from Eylure (see here)?
I got to wear them for my hubby’s birthday celebration,
and the selfie is on my IG here 😉
