Just yesterday I read this gem: “I’m sorry for the things I said when it was winter”. Even though I am not a grumpy person at all, I do want winter to be over ASAP. At the same time, please don’t consider this cringe-worthy (I know you won’t) but I genuinely believe it’s great to remain positive and make the best of any situation. That’s when a fabulous brand like Crabtree & Evelyn comes to play. On a wet (or a super freezing) winter evening when you find yourself lazing around at home trying to get warm and cozy, there is a special treat you can indulge in. I must tell you two things before we dive into this review – 1) I fell in love with this product & brand immediately & 2) I wish you could lean in right across the screen and smell it. As I am editing this post, I still can sniff out the subtle and mind-blowing aroma (and that’s from using this shower gel in the morning). This is definitely a very special treat in a bottle.
Having heard about the brand very briefly before, for some reason I haven’t got to explore it at all. Not until my wonderful mother-in-law got me this bath & shower gel as one of the presents for Christmas. Being a curious mind (aka a blogger), I had to open the top right away and was blown away. Later I found out that the inspiration behind Crabtree & Evelyn came from John Evelyn whose personal motto was: “Explore everything. Keep the best”.
Before using any product I always read what the packaging has to say, check the ingredients and learn about it further on the website. Their Pomegranate Argan & Grapeseed Collection was created in order to replenish and revitalize skin. As for the main ingredients, they are:
+ pomegranate oil extract (among other benefits – effective antioxidant, skin regenerator)
+ grapeseed extract (antioxidant, skin replenishing and anti-inflammatory)
+ argan oil (excellent natural moisturizing and skin restorating qualities)
This product is free of parabens, mineral oil and propylene glycol.
Crabtree, the icon of the brand, is native to Britain and represents the natural goodness inherent in the brand.
Now onto the impossible – trying to describe a scent. Apart from the ingredients listed above, it also includes the selection of hints of spices such as ginger and cardamom. What you will smell when you open this bottle of goodness is a rich grapey scent mixed with pomegranate, clementine blossom and fresh zesty notes (I love my citrus notes way too much!). Just like the real estate agents recommend certain property for viewing (because it’s THAT good), all I can do at this point is rush you over to your nearest Crabtree & Evelyn shop to smell this beauty. Bonus: if you close your eyes, it’s easier to imagine yourself somewhere in gorgeous and colourful Marakkesh.
- I am in LOVE with the scent (I honestly could sit and smell it forever) and it lingers on your skin (mmmm!)
- it doesn’t smell like a typical bath/shower wash one bit – it’s more like a rich fresh & floral’y perfume
- the gel is very moisturizing and makes your skin feel super soft (I don’t even moisturize after using it)
- rich texture and it gives the most perfect and creamy foam
- suitable both for bath and shower (this is a brilliant thing – I can’t wait to enjoy a bath using it)
- no harmful chemicals and compounds (free of parabens/mineral oil/propylene glycol)
- definitely a luxury bath & shower gel (250 ml – £15) but worth every penny (I’m using it sparingly)
- incredible quality and exclusive product – would make a perfect gift (the recipient will love you 4ever)
Verdict: Happy and thankful that I was introduced to this product (thanks to my lovely mother-in-law).
Very impressed and absolutely LOVE it. Will I repurchase? – YES.
The only downside would be the price but it’s worth it and
it’s amazing to keep and use it as a special treat to yourself from yourself 😉
