Skincare Wishlist | How To Cleanse Your Skin (Properly)

There is one thing that I’ve learnt over the years of dealing with my complexion issues. It’s the harsh truth (and it’s OK to say it out loud). Clear skin is a luxury. My previous post has provoked amazing discussions and one-on-one messages with so many of you. I loved it! Even though the article was all about my current go-to high-end base makeup favourites, we dived deeper and chatted about our skin troubles, shared how to stand strong and win those battles. So when I say that clear skin is a luxury, I mean that you might be the happy “owner” of those “flawless” genes and “peaceful” hormones 🙂 Thankfully, no matter what complexion you’ve been gifted with, cleansing it is not a given. It’s great news! It means that some self-help and the right products can make a big difference. When I decided to put together this skincare wishlist, I decided to go for mostly cleansing products. I handpicked each item very (very!) carefully and have given it a good thought and done a lot of research. So today I am going to share my personal 10 picks that I genuinely crave (oh so much!) and cannot wait to test out (Santa, take a mental note, please).

If your skin has never given you any sort of “headache”, you’re an extremely lucky person. For someone like me, it’s been good 8 years or so during which my complexion issues didn’t only affect the way I look but they targeted my confidence in a big way. Thankfully, life gets easier once you are in your late 20s/early 30s because a) you realize that your skin doesn’t define you; b) you don’t really care what some rude people think and c) you learn to love yourself for being you. Plus, you find the right stuff! 🙂 All that aside, during my 20s I found ways how to cope with any skin condition that made an appearance. I made mistakes. I went to bed with my makeup on. I used soap to wash my face. I didn’t moisturize or gave SPF much thought. Exfoliating wasn’t the word in my vocabulary. All of that has come to an end gradually. I started to learn about skincare and actually APPLY that knowledge. Now, I am using and loving a number of great skincare products that really make a difference for my complexion and its needs. There is still so much to explore though. That’s why I am confidently sharing this skincare wishlist, even though I haven’t tried any of these products yet. Their rep in the beauty world goes without saying and it sure does speak volumes.

1. La Roche-Posay Toleriane Dermo-Cleanser: it feels as if I read what-feels-like thousands of positive reviews about many products by La Roche-Posay. This cleanser got many. It’s very gentle and would suit those times when my skin is extra sensitive. I’d probably still use my Garnier Micellar Water before applying La Roche-Posay cleanser. But! According to many reviews, it makes a perfect match with a cleansing brush.

2. Panasonic Micro-Foaming Facial Cleansing Brush*: while there are many cleansing brushes out there, this beauty definitely caught my eye. It’s not every day you come across a beauty gadget that has a warming makeup removal plate! I mean, how cool is that? Not only it flawlessly removes the makeup, it’s got a unique patented micro-foam technology which produces finer foam (for better cleansing purposes – eekk!). Plus, it comes with a smaller pore focus brush aka answer-to-most-of-my-skin-needs. Yes, please!

3. Clinique Take The Day Off Makeup Remover For Lids, Lashes & Lips: I mentioned this little guy in my wishlist here and my admiration for it is still going strong. What I loved reading about it is that it removes even the most stubborn mascara (including your favourite waterproof one). Plus, it wipes away all traces of the lipstick without having to rub the life out of it. We know how handy this is in the season of the dark lippy. In all honestly, always take your makeup off. No matter how tired or sleepy you are.

4. Tropic Skincare Bamboo Cloth: this brand has only recently been introduced into my life by my lovely mother-in-law. Her friend recommended her to try Tropic and she never looked back. Also, she kindly got me a number of skincare products which I can’t wait to review on the blog. As for this handy little cloth, it’s made of 100% organic bamboo fibres. It works the best after being soaked into hot water (wring out the excess). Just imagine the feeling of using it to wipe off your cleanser. Ahhh, so spa-like.

5. Pixi Glow Tonic: exfoliating is probably one of my favourite parts of the skincare routine. However, I wouldn’t be happy with just ANY exfoliant. Remember this tea tree one I’ve been loving? Certain scrubs do come with microbeads and it’s up to us what we do about that. Microbeads can be quite harsh for our skin (especially if it’s sensitive). Plus, they end up being flushed down the sink into the big waters and become a threat to many animal and bird species. Therefore, this Pixi Glow Tonic is a fab option because it exfoliates gently (no microbeads) and very effectively. Pixi Beauty puts me into a big-time swoon mode.

6. Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer: I am more than sure that I don’t need to tell you about the importance of a good moisturizer. I used to think (a gazillion years ago) that if you have oily skin you don’t need to put it any extra work. Origins has such a fab range of moisturizers and this GinZing Energy-Boosting one meets my skin needs. It’s gentle and effective on blemishes. Another massive bonus about this moisturizer is that it balances dryness and oiliness (my skin is a treat, I told you).

7. Tropic Skincare Tamanu Healing Balm: now this miracle in the jar gets its name from all the happy customers, including my mother-in-law. It is absolutely amazing and helps to heal rosacea, eczema, cuts, burns, stings, rashes and scarring. Basically, the list goes on. I would love to put it to the test on my after-acne scarring and spots. It sounds too good not to try!

8. Kiehls Super Multi-Corrective Eye-Opening Serum: two words – Kiehls and serum. I feel like I don’t even have to say more. I am probably the last person on the planet who hasn’t jumped on the “I tried and loved Kiehls” bandwagon. Aaaand I haven’t yet got to play with serums. So many favourite beauty bloggers of mine rave about the serum being a must-have product in their skincare routine. This one is created to revive your under-eye area. Mine is craving some TLC for sure!

9. Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate: my skincare wishlist wouldn’t be complete without a facial oil. Kiehls to the rescue! It’s unreal how many people have mentioned that this beauty pretty much regenerated their skin and they wake up with glowing, lifted, soft and hydrated complexion. It pretty much suits anyone and cooperates with the most sensitive and blemished skin. I don’t look my age anyway (I like to think so lol) but I wouldn’t say no to a few more years erased off my face haha.

10. Caudalie Grape Water: I don’t even know where to start with this one. Once again, a whole lot of incredibly positive reviews and praises goes to this handy little bottle. It is 100% organic refreshing mist which gives you that “punch” of hydration in a quick spritz. This is definitely a perfect finishing touch whether you are all dolled up or go out makeupless. It’d be perfect for the office (or any place where you spend a lot of time) if the air gets too dry. I almost can sniff out the scent – so obsessed with grapes!

Hope you enjoyed this post, beauties.

If you add any of these to your routine, your skin will be thankful.

I picked each item very carefully and would be on cloud nine to use any of these amazing products.

That’s why I feel beyond confident sharing them with you.

As you have probably seen on my Instagram here, I’ve had very sore back

for the last number of days. Since I’ve never had any back issues, it gave me a bit of a scare.

Today I went to my GP who told me it looks like a little inflammation

which should clear in a week or two.

I am relieved and hoping this pain eases off in the next couple of days.

Many thanks for your prayers, positive vibes and sweet messages.

My hubby’s birthday is on Friday and I couldn’t be more excited to celebrate together. Eeekk!

I will make sure to snap away & show you the presents I got for him 😉
