Before I get into some kind of an intro or my initial thoughts about this perfume, let’s just pause and stare. How absolutely STUNNING is this stiletto / perfume bottle?! It takes the most gorgeous item on my dressing table award by right! Now, let’s go back to that intro and then we will jump straight into the review because I know you’d want to see and read more about this beauty. First and foremost, I have to admit that I never “buy” something (literally and metaphorically) when I see a commercial popping up on TV promoting it on the loop. My reaction is usually the opposite. It wasn’t the case with this stunner. While hubby and I were in Dubai for our 2nd wedding anniversary, Carolina Herrera launched ‘Good Girl‘, and gorgeous Karlie Kloss was looking at us from every screen at The Dubai Mall. Since I was hoping to get a perfume there anyway, my plan was to go for a “safe” choice and treat myself to my all time go-to favourite Miss Dior. Hubby, thankfully, thought differently, (because he noticed how mesmerized I was at the look of the Good Girl bottle!) and suggested to try it (he’s a keeper). Needless to say, it was love at first sight. The rest is history.
It’s not easy to stop ‘singing an ode’ to this perfume and its design. So let’s start with what caught my eye from the very first second. How flawless and incredibly beautiful is the packaging? The box is impressive quality because it’s got this fabulous velvet finish. It’s a stylish black, white and gold rectangular head-turner. But the real treasure is reigning inside. Carolina Herrera got her inspiration from the famous Marilyn Monroe’s quote: “Give a girl the right shoes, and she can conquer the world”. As a result, a stunning and unique bottle in the shape of a sky-high sexy stiletto was born. Another inspiration was New York City (as you know, it is my most favourite happy places in the world, and I shared my favourite spots in Big Apple with you here and here). The stiletto is super sleek and gorgeous. The “shoe” body is shiny with a delicate Carolina Herrera brand print on its “sole” and CH initials at the front. And then there is a beautifully piercing tall gold heel! The quality of the bottle is out of this world. Even though I am not really a high-heel wearer, this shoe got me say “Wow”! The sprayer is located at the very top with a sleek little pushutton in the back. The packaging couldn’t be more perfect as it states and represents one main thing: we, women, are strong, daring, powerful, beautiful, independent and we set our own rules. It doesn’t matter if you’re a flats lover (like yours truly), you might still find this packaging gorgeous and strong, just the way you are.
If you ever hear that a certain perfume is “floral”, don’t trust the word. Trust your senses (smell, in particular). Good Girl reveals its two opposite sides (therefore, highlighting the idea behind it that #itsgoodtobebad). Think of it as yin and yang, black and white, light and dark, good and bad. The “good” side is represented by delicate notes of Tuberose and Jasmine Sambac which are radiant and hypnotic. It’s a defined feminine and luxurious scent which takes you right in the limelight of a black-tie party. The “bad” is spiced with roasted Tonka beans and Cocoa. They add the depth to it and a pinch of bitterness making it into a perfect blend. The perfume is seductive, yet sophisticated. It’s light, yet daring. It’s graceful, yet powerful. I would definitely recommend this scent for colder season as it’s rich and distinct. It’s perfect for special occasions, tasteful nights out and, let’s drop all the frills and be honest, it would make you feel on top of the world every single day. There are no limitations. You are the GirlBoss!
I am very picky when it comes to perfumes. I love to have my signature scent. I consider the smell to be more powerful than the sight at times. Did you ever find that a certain aroma would take you back 10 years ago to a situation you never thought you had a memory of? That’s when the quality, richness and longevity come to play. Good Girl isn’t bright-and-light but it isn’t heavy or overabundant. It is, however, beautiful and intense with a longevity of at least half a day. It clings to your skin and clothes so even after those initial 12 hours have passed, the trail is still there and it’s easily detectable. The bottle is super easy to use. You don’t need to open or unscrew anything. Light push on a pressbutton and the magic is happening. Choosing a perfume is a very individual and personal experience. While some might fall in love with certain scents, others will find them repelling. Despite what review you read about any perfume, make sure to give it a try by yourself. We are all different and it’s perfectly great. I personally love Good Girl and couldn’t recommend it enough for a good ol’ sniff test. A 50ml Good Girl retails at £67.68 on Amazon.
Hope you enjoyed this review, and I have to say it wasn’t an easy one to write
because perfumes are such tough cookies to describe.
I have been enjoying Good Girl perfume so much that I thought
it deserved more than a slot in my monthly favourites.
