US Sephora Haul | First Impressions + Giveaway

Sephora Haul

Traveling to foreign countries is an incredible experience. Even when it includes zero shopping. It’s pretty awesome on its own. But if you live in a country where there’s no Sephora, it’s an absolute must to pay a visit there when you’re abroad. It’s funny how now, long before I even spot Sephora in the shopping mall (my indoor navigation skills are just as terrible as my outdoor ones), my hubby is pointing it to me saying “Go. I will wait here. Take your time” (he’s a keeper). This exact scenario happened when we went to the US last month. I didn’t get much this time but I did pick up a few things I knew I would love and a few new products that would be fun to “test”. I also got a special little something to include into this post as a giveaway because I’d love for one of you to have it and enjoy it as much as I have. Without further ado, let’s dive into all things Sephora beauty.

Sephora Haul

NARS Blush/Bronzer Duo & NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer

When it comes to NARS, in my experience, it’s hard to go wrong no matter what you buy. Saying that, I admit I did play it safe when I repurchased my NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. It’s been what-feels-like ages ago since I featured it in my very first favourites of the month (which, by the way, I really need to get back to doing again). This concealer is definitely among my high-end must-haves because it does what it promises. So far, I haven’t found a concealer that wouldn’t make all my fine lines show up but this little guy still hangs around in top 5. Another thing I picked up was a mini blush and bronzer duo. Both of these are more than popular in the blogosphere as well as the beauty industry. So I just had to see what the hype is all about. In a miniature version. So far I am very impressed with the bronzer (Laguna). I am a I-wouldn’t-leave-the-house-without-my-bronzer kinda gal so one of the pet peeves I have has to do with “muddy cheeks”, hard to blend finish or a shade that’s way too dark for my complexion. Not in this case. So far, so good. The blush is yet to be explored. It swatched beautifully and I am sure I will get a good use out of it in spring and summer.

bareMinerals barePRO Performance Wear Powder

I learnt it the hard way, when it comes to powder, it’s a make it or break it kind of deal. No matter what foundation and concealer I apply, it’s all up to the powder of my choice to make it look great or “ruin” the whole thing. For years I have been using (and loving!) a number of drugstore powders which worked perfectly fine. But then you have that moment when you start thinking if there’s anything better around. Maybe a new kid on the block that will make all the difference. Or an oldie but goodie product which is labelled by many as “HG”. As for bareMinerals, I’ve read mixed reviews. However, the rep bareMinerals has got for they are angry-adult-skin-friendly products convinced me to give it a go. I went for barePRO Performance Wear Powder in Cashmere 06 and I’ve been very happy with the shade and its light finish. My skin hasn’t had a reaction to it (score!) but so far I haven’t been impressed with the longevity and wear. I will play with it for a few more weeks before I can deliver my final “verdict”. For now, I haven’t got that WOW-factor out of it. It’s just alright.

Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer

After I finished my TBS moisturizer (I did a full review on Drops of Youth), I was back on the hunt for that #1 when it comes to day and/or night cream. You know the whole “it’s winter and my skin is super dry” deal. Well, I won’t be exaggerating when I tell you that at one stage it broke into these very dry patches and boy, it was sore! It actually happened when we were in the US in December. I was out of moisturizer and decided it was time to splurge on the “good stuff”. Origins is an incredible brand if you’re searching for high-quality skincare. It’s pricey but it’s worth it. I didn’t look anywhere else. I knew I wanted to get a moisturizer from Origins. After about 10 minutes of checking out the selection of creams and potions, I managed to choose Origins GinZing. I never looked back. To say I have been happy with it would be an understatement. You will definitely see more of it in my upcoming posts!

Sephora Eye Masks

How can one go to Sephora and come out with no brightly-packaged masks? It’s impossible. I always tend to pick up either face or eye masks in the hope that the will revive my skin in seconds. They ARE good but that’s not how they work. I don’t think there’s a product for that. 2 things: good sleep and a time machine. I opted for eye masks because my under-eye area has been craving some TLC (winter cold, dryness, late nights, you name it). So far I tried Nourishing & Repairing Avocado and Anti-fatigue & Energizing Pomegranate, and they were a treat. I probably should start pampering my skin more to see the effect better and faster. I do love these no-frills straight-forward revitalizing eye masks and would definitely recommend to add a few into your shopping basket on your next visit to Sephora.

Sephora The Romantic Eyeshadow Palette

It’s not an accident that I put this palette last in this haul. Even though I’ve already talked about a few absolute favourites, this has been one of the loveliest discoveries. Despite the fact that it includes only 8 shades, they all make me want to go ding-ding-ding! I hit a massive jackpot with this one. All shades are beautifully pigmented, they last throughout the day with a primer underneath, and they look stunning. There are no names so I can’t start blabbing about how much I like “Strawberry Sorbet” versus “Charcoal Cola” (totally lame made-up names but you get an idea). To be completely honest with you, certain brands come up with some names that are crossing the line on so many levels. You probably know exactly what I am talking about. So here we are, with a palette with no names for each shade, and thank you for that, Sephora. Also, this might sound basic (confession time!) but those 8 shades are literally everything I am looking for in my everyday eyeshadow palette. I did take a risk and got two in case if I wanted to do a giveaway. Well, there goes the “secret” – I am giving one away to one of you. The fact that this little guy is limited edition, and it’s sold out pretty much everywhere, makes it even more special.
