Don’t even get me started on how in the world it’s already May. I may be biased (because I am a “May baby”) but it is one of my favourite months of the year. It’s that “transition” time between spring and summer when the winter is 100% behind us and everything is bright, blossoming and greener than ever (am I the only person who goes on repeat about how green everything is?). On a different note, I decided to look back at my April Favourites from twenty 06 and saw the history repeat itself. March Favourites never happened last year and they got “skipped” this year too. Maybe March is just not the best blogging month (for me). I have no idea. Also, these involuntary breaks I had to take got me down big time because it’s never my intention to put something I love and enjoy so much on the backseat. So here is where May makes an entrance and, ultimately, every tiny and big issue gets sorted out. Including my content schedule which is, by the way, looking smashing! Coming back with a bang celebrating my birthday with a lovely giveaway attached to this post. Enjoy!
This trip was very much needed. Probably, even more than any beach getaway.
Going back to Ukraine is always special. If you have known me for a while, you know that I was born and raised in Ukraine, lived and studied in the US and then got married and moved to the UK. I will be honest and up-front about the whole experience of moving countries. It’s not easy. Being a 5-hour flight away from your family is not a walk in the park. On top of that, my husband and I had to move AGAIN. This time away from both of our families and friends. I think I underestimated how difficult it would be and I pushed myself way too much to “adapt” quicker than I should’ve. BUT I am glad I am finally feeling like I am (read: we are) settling in. Woohoo! I am just happy we are together so no matter where we are, it will all be great.
When I shared this photo on Instagram (with a very personal caption), you guys have supported me so much. There is definitely a post coming up on how to adjust to a life in a different country or how to make a home away from home. You get the idea. It might sound super tacky but I feel at home wherever I am with my husband. So if we move to Canada next week, I will be calling Canada my home, y’know. The key word is “we”. Home for me isn’t about the place, it’s about the people I love.
So yeah, our trip to Ukraine was amazing. I went a week earlier to spend time with parents and help my mum look after my granny. Then my hubby and our friends from England & Northern Ireland came over to stay for a long weekend. It. Was. Amazing. On the way back to England we stopped in Kiev for a day. This is a view from our hotel overlooking the Independence Square which looked like this a few years ago. The contrast is unreal. It’s so good to see it rebuilt and looking beautiful again.
I am so part the Fast & Furious family. Always was. Always will be. Even when people make fun of the insane unrealistic scenes in the F&F movies, I brush it off because this is what Fast & Furious is all about. Pushing the limits. Doing the “undoable”. And, ultimately, displaying the right priorities. Family is everything in the Fast & Furious franchise and even though after Paul Walker was gone, and everyone, including myself, thought it was the end of F&F, they kept going and made it happen. Not only by making each movie bigger and “badder” (in a good way) but by honouring Paul. So when Fast & Furious 8 came out, I knew we had to go and watch it because “how do you top the building jump scene when they “flew” the car from one Dubai skyscraper into another?!”. Well, this time Dom goes rogue but there is a very special reason behind it. Also, Jason Statham and The Rock brought it big time. I could go on and on but in order not to spoil it for you, just go and watch it.
You know when you decide to feature your “favourite food of the month” in your post (inspired by that delicious homemade cupcake situation) but then there are 2 more “treats” you want to share. Including coffee…
Coffee wins. Every time.
As much as I am trying to cut down, my brain seems to be wired differently. But also, how cute is this Little Miss Blogger mug (it was one of my Christmas pressies). I am one of those people who have a mug obsession and feel the need to get a mug every time they see a cute one. Yet, at the same time, I tend to take out the same mug for weeks when I am fixing a cuppa. The third treat of the month is the most beautiful planner I’ve ever owned. I am so heart eyes emoji over it. You might remember me gushing about it in my How To Stick To Your Goals In 2017 post. It’s a stunning Dear Diary Planner which is currently sold out but the girls have so much more up their sleeve, including a lovely new addition in a form of a gorgeous notebook and 2 prettiest notepads. I love my Dear Diary planner for many reasons, one of them being these lovely encouraging quotes. They always make me smile and come just at the right time.
When WhiteWash Laboratories reached out to me offering to try out The Nano Range*, I was very curious but at the same time cautious. I will be completely honest – I declined a few teeth whitening offers in the past. For various reasons. One of the them being the simple fact that I couldn’t trust the developer and the result seemed to sound/look way exaggerated. So I did a quick research on WhiteWash Laboratories and I was impressed by: a) the developer and the work (the products took 5 years in the making having been developed by the leading UK dentists), b) the quality (their teeth whitening & oral care products are not just good or ok but premium quality), c) the ingredients and the idea behind the range (all products are cruelty-free, gluten-free, suitable for vegans, pregnant and breastfeeding women and are completely safe) and finally, d) the aesthetic (the packaging is sleek, minimalistic and flawlessly created, imho).
I have sensitive teeth and, as told by my dentist, enamel which is wearing off because I’m a grinder. So, at first, I was wondering whether it’s suitable for me to use any whitening range. But then I read about the science behind these WhiteWash Labs products and the special Enamel Care Technology which ultimately helps to re-harden softened enamel. It was exactly what I needed! Hence, it became a part of my daily routine and, to be honest, my favourite thing to do! So my Nano Range kit includes a toothpaste, a toothbrush, a mouthwash, anti-stain floss (which I blanked out to include in the picture because it’s been sitting in my handbag – yup, I carry it with me all the time) and intensive whitening strips. I started using the range which was almost 4 weeks ago. It’s amazing that even though I’ve been having that extra amount of coffee, I can definitely see the difference. My teeth are at least 2 shades lighter. I also ordered a mouth guard to help protect that enamel even more. Even though I might not be 100% happy with the shape of my teeth or my bite, I am happy I can flash a bright smile which is, by the way, always genuine. Thanking WhiteWash Laboratories for contributing to that 🙂
By the way, it’s all in the eyes, isn’t it? If your smile is genuine, your eyes are “smiling” too.

Where do I even begin telling you guys about Bella… Ok, first of all, it’s always a struggle to single out one Insta per month as I LOVE so many. Secondly, I always tell myself not to include bloggers because, again, how in the world do I pick ONE?! But then, when you know it’s right, you just know it. So let’s rewind time 1,5 years back. Bella was one of the first bloggers who were reading Miel and Mint, and she’s always been there supporting me. I fell in love with her blog xoxoBella the moment I saw it. Bella and I clicked immediately and, what’s amazing, we kept on having each other’s back all this time. Not only she, being insanely busy, always finds time to like and leave a comment under every Instagram picture I post (you’re a superwoman, babe!), but also… just take a look at her feed. It’s absolutely out of this world. This is what I call #instagoals and I am so proud to say that she is my FRIEND. It’s so incredibly inspiring to have such creative, sweet and talented people like that in your life. So without any delay, go and follow Bella at bellabucchiotti – you won’t regret it. Tell her I said hey 😉
I enjoyed a lot of different makeup goodies last month but nothing seemed to have stood out more than my skin/bodycare. So I decided to go away from my usual “Favourite Makeup” this time and feature my absolute faves in the general beauty department.
I am sure a lot of you have seen these sleek TBS Almond Milk & Honey products all over Instagram and other blogs. Well, I wasn’t sent these nor was I sponsored to write about them (none of the stuff mentioned in this whole post is sponsored, otherwise I would say so). My hubby happened to be in London on a short business trip and he came back with a cute little bag (with the most gorgeous box inside) which contained this lovely The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey range.
What a keeper, right?
This Fantastic 4 quickly went up to the top of not just my favourite skin/bodycare products of the month but my favourite TBS products EVER. Yes, that’s how good they are!
The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Caring Shower Cream:
This is, by far, one of the best and most moisturizing shower gels I have ever used. I’ve been struggling a whole lot with dry skin after winter and through freezing March and April, especially on my arms going down from my shoulders, so this beauty helped me take care of that like there’s no tomorrow.
The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Restoring Body Butter:
Not only does it say that it helps calm itchy, dry and irritated skin, but also it’s got some skin healing superpowers. I have this awful habit of scratching my skin until it bleeds (on my legs, the moment the hairs start growing out after shaving). Sounds horrendous, I know. This body butter moisturized that irritated and dry area so well that it helped the little scratched wounds heal in no time.
The Body Shop Almond Milk & Honey Soothing & Caring Cleansing Bar:
We are very particular about our soaps in this household. Even though some people might say/think, “Ah, it’s just a soap. Anything goes”. Nope, not for moi. Most of the soaps on the market are very drying and harsh on the skin. And since I personally wash my hands more than a surgeon does, I need a good moisturizing and protecting product. This bar does what it promises to do. Cleansing – check! Soothing – check! Caring – check!
Almond Milk & Honey Calming & Protecting Hand Cream:
There’s one thing I never run low on because they are such a must. My TBS hand creams. For some reason, they are usually the ones I keep reaching out for. Since I got this little guy as a part of the gift box from my hubby, I couldn’t help but use it non stop. You know how when you love something SO MUCH, you struggle to even start talking about it. Yup, this is the case here. It is an amazing moisturizing hand cream! The size, the quality, the scent, the feel – all goes into “A+” category in my books.
But that’s not it.
I’ve been loving this ELEMIS Gentle Foaming Facial Wash to bits! I would use it after cleansing my skin with my all-time fave Garnier Micellar Water. It’s super light-weigh, doesn’t foam excessively (which makes me like it even more) and leaves my skin squeaky clean BUT well-hydrated. Also, it’s going to sound revolutionary (for me personally) but I have only just started using serums and oh my goodness, I am addicted. After the wash I’ve been using my Pro-Collagen Quartz Lift Serum and I can’t wait to tell you more about it all. My full skincare update and favourites post is in the making.
Last but not least, see that tiny little orange lip balm? Since my sweet mum-in-law recommended me to try Tropic Skincare, I’ve been hooked. Lip Love Balm is packed with vitamin e, shea and cocoa butters and carrot oil aaaaand it’s not just for your lips! You can use this little guy on your nails, cuticles, elbows and even heels. It does come off a bit orange’y but once applied there’s no tint to it whatsoever.
Oh, and yes, that’s real honey in that flatlay. I can handle sticky situations like that 😉 Excuse the lame pun haha.
In my personal Bible study I have been enjoying going through the Book of Proverbs. I can’t even start explaining to you how many valuable lessons it offers. The theme of it is wisdom which, unfortunately, we so often lack in our everyday lives and decision-making. Another vital aspect which touched me on a whole new level is the importance of guarding your heart. Anything we think, say and do starts in our heart. When we let the evil take the reign, our minds become polluted, our words start tasting bitter and our actions get cruel and selfish. So this verse has been that sobering reminder time after time stirring up the need to guard my heart. From pride. From selfishness. From anger. From bitterness. The great thing is a lot is given to us into our own “hands” to take control of, including keeping that watchful guard over what we let in and what we give out.
