Hey there!
Welcome to Miel and Mint.
Who am I?
I’m Nadia (it’s actually Nadiya but everyone forgets the “y” so I’ve adapted to the no “y” life).
I am the creator and the blogger behind Miel and Mint.
I moved and lived around the world, including the USA and Ireland. For 4+ years now I’ve been living, together with my husband, in Chester, UK. It’s a beautiful city and we couldn’t be happier we get to call it home.
I teach a course, interpret & translate, and write for Miel and Mint.
I speak 3 languages fluently and understand 5 more, and will always have a soft spot for languages.
One of my biggest passions in life is traveling and exploring the world. Whenever I feel stuck or like I’m in a rut, I know it’s time to pack the bags (even if it’s a one day getaway). So far I’ve visited 21 countries. That number doesn’t shift every time we travel because both my husband and I love coming back to our favourite places. What matters the most is not the number of countries you visit, it’s about the quality time and joy you get from your travels.
I don’t have a favourite colour but most of my wardrobe is black, grey and beige.
I am a sinner saved by grace (John 3:16) but I’m not religious .
Huge movie buff. My favourite holiday is Christmas and my favourite season is autumn.
I love home decor, obsessed with stationery and have an unhealthy addiction to coffee and writing lists.
How did I start blogging?
I started Miel and Mint 4 years ago after we had just relocated to Chester.
Life was not the easiest back then. I had to start from scratch in a brand new city and country. I struggled to find a job but kept telling my husband how much I admired a few of the bloggers I was following at the time. Their blogs and social media platforms became their job.
That’s when he suggested starting my own blog.
I had no clue where to begin or how to word my articles (you are welcome to scroll back to my very first super embarrassing blog posts but, just in case, I warned you). I think it took me at least half a year to discover my voice.
Once I did, you couldn’t stop me.
Miel and Mint was my world.
Until I had to take a few major long breaks due to different circumstances: health, work, writer’s block and social media effects.
Many valuable lessons were learnt, and, thankfully, I’ve taken the reins back. Miel and Mint is back stronger and even more inspiring than ever.
Why “Miel and Mint”?
Miel and Mint stands for “miel” which means “honey” in French and Spanish and “mint” which means, well, “mint”.
There are two meanings I put behind this name:
1) it’s about all things sweet (honey) and fresh (mint): it’s an online destination that will always uplift you, inspire you and keep you updated on different aspects of lifestyle, travel, beauty and much more
2) mint tea with a bit of honey is my favourite kind of tea = the idiom “my cup of tea”: Miel and Mint is everything I am – it reflects my character, my experiences and my world, ready to be shared with you.
